Who We Are (And Why We Bake)
June 20, 2026

Three Hands Bakery is a family operation. Matt and Adri are spouses. Matt and Nicholas are brothers. Between the three of us, we've got a combined decade of home baking experience, a passion for sourdough, and a shared belief that our community deserves better bread.
That last part is what really got this started.
Bread making is one of those things you tinker with at some point if you like cooking. Matt and Adri did very early in their marriage, and while the result wasn't great, the seed was planted. But the bread obsession itself started around 2013, when Adri read Michael Pollan's Cooked. A Natural History of Transformation. Something in it clicked. She wanted to try making sourdough, mentioned it to a friend, and not long after that friend showed up with a bag of starter. That starter has been alive and fed ever since — it survived a cross-country move from Texas to Tennessee in 2018, got nursed back to life next to a woodstove, and still goes into every loaf we make today.

From obsession to business
For years, Matt and Adri baked from home. Good bread. Real bread. But last December, Nicholas made a baguette from a book he'd been gifted for Christmas — and it stopped us all in our tracks. We looked at each other and said, out loud, we want this every day. It was better than anything we'd been making, and we'd been making bread for over a decade.
That starter has been alive and fed ever since — it survived a cross-country move from Texas to Tennessee in 2018, got nursed back to life next to a wood stove, and still goes into every loaf we make today.
We started joking that Nicholas should start a bread subscription and that we'd be his first customers. That joke turned into a business plan faster than any of us expected.
Three Hands Bakery launched in early 2026. We bake every week, we show up at the farmers market, and we put the same care into every loaf that went into that baguette last December. No shortcuts, no artificial anything — just real bread, made slowly, the way it's supposed to be. We'd love for you to come find us. 🍞
