5-Ingredient Whole Wheat Sourdough Crackers
August 16, 2026

We started making our Whole Wheat Sourdough Crackers as a way to use our sourdough discard. Feeding our starter every day means a lot of discard, and if we let it pile up, it just gets more and more acidic. We already turn some of it into our Sourdough Chocolate Chip Cookies and our Frozen Pizza Dough, so crackers felt like a natural fit.
We also liked the simplicity: five ingredients, 100% whole wheat, and no shortcuts. But mostly, we liked how delicious and crunchy they turned out.

The ingredients
Sourdough starter, whole wheat flour, olive oil, dried rosemary, and salt. That's it. No fillers, no preservatives, nothing you can't pronounce.

The process
We mix all of the ingredients with a dough hook until it comes together into a shaggy, workable dough. From there, it's rolled out by hand and then finished with a rolling pin. The goal is a dough that's thin and even all the way across, because that's what makes it cook crispy edge to edge.
The center always wants to stay a little thicker than the rest, no matter how careful we are. So we trim it down and "dispose" of the extra a few crackers straight into our own bellies. Consider it quality control!
Once the dough is rolled thin and even, it goes in the oven to bake until crisp.

Why they're taking off
At first, these were a hard sell. People don't always know what to expect from a whole wheat sourdough cracker until they've actually tasted one. So we started handing out samples at the market, and that changed everything. Most people who try one buy a bag on the spot. Turns out a well-seasoned, crispy cracker sells itself.
They're great on their own, and even better with cheese. We now offer a larger 5oz size for anyone who wants to build out a full cheese board or just isn't willing to share.
